This 13 oz selvage denim from Japan is produced by Nihon Menpu in Ibara and features a natural indigo tone with 13% linen. The combination of cotton and linen gives the fabric a vibrant texture, while the signature "noppies"—small tufts of white yarn on the surface—add further character and a rustic, handcrafted look.

When new, the denim feels firm and slightly stiff, as is typical for unwashed raw selvedge fabrics. With wear, the material develops a pleasant suppleness, while retaining the distinctive nubby texture and the subtle color variation of the natural indigo.

The white selvedge adds a classic touch that blends harmoniously into various designs. Despite the striking surface texture, the fabric remains manageable and is ideal for jeans, jackets, overshirts, or accessories that should showcase character, depth, and a handcrafted feel.

Thanks to its 13 oz weight, this denim can be sewn with a standard household sewing machine. A size 90 jeans needle is recommended; for multi-layered flat-felled seams, the sewing speed should be reduced to achieve precise stitches.
