Denim Deal 9 - S-039 - 15 oz - black selvage denim
This 15 oz selvage denim from Japan is produced by Nihon Menpu in Ibara . The fabric features a black warp and an anthracite weft, which provides a subtle depth even in its raw state and creates contrasting, vibrant fading effects when worn. The sulfur black dye gives the denim a deep, intense tone, while the white and red selvedge adds a classic selvage detail.
When new, the denim feels firm and grippy, with a smooth yet vibrant surface. With wear, the material develops a soft suppleness and reveals its characteristic, medium contrasts between warp and weft threads.
Thanks to its balanced structure, the fabric is ideal for jeans, jackets, overshirts or accessories where depth, texture and high-contrast fading potential are paramount.
Weighing 15 oz, this denim can be sewn with well-adjusted domestic or industrial sewing machines. A size 100 jeans needle is recommended; for multi-layered flat-felled seams, the sewing speed should be reduced to achieve precise seams.
The last photo exemplifies the natural development of the fabric over a longer period of wear – the deep black dyeing in combination with the anthracite weft unfolds vibrant, high-contrast fadings and an individual, characterful patina.
