K-002 - 5 oz - forest green Kasuri
from Kasuri-Orimoto, Japan
1 × 50 cm = 50 cm Gesamtlänge
This lightweight Kasuri fabric features a deep forest green with white, vertically interrupted stripes. The pattern appears vibrant and slightly shimmering – a typical characteristic of traditional Kasuri fabrics.
The unique feature lies in the manufacturing process: In the Kasuri technique (Japanese Ikat weaving), individual warp or weft yarns are tied off and dyed section by section before weaving. The motif only comes together during the subsequent weaving process. Minimal shifts in the pre-dyed yarn sections create the characteristic, slightly blurred contours. This deliberate interplay of blur lends the fabric depth, movement, and a handcrafted aesthetic.
Thanks to its light weight, the fabric is ideal as a lining for jackets or coats, as a decorative fabric for cushions or light curtains, as well as for complete shirts, blouses or dresses. It combines traditional weaving techniques with versatile applications and a calm, natural look.

Please do not wash the denim before processing. As an unwashed "raw selvage" fabric, it only develops its characteristic structure and fit through wear.
Wash the finished garment only after it is completely sewn. The respective shrinkage values for length and width should therefore be taken into account during pattern construction and size planning.
