S-009 - 14 oz - elastic dark indigo selvedge denim
white/pink selvage line - from Kuroki, Japan
1 × 50 cm = 50 cm Gesamtlänge
This Japanese selvage denim with a weight of 14.3 oz combines classic substance with modern mobility. The low elastane content of 2% gives the fabric noticeable flexibility without losing its characteristic stability and clarity of shape. It is ideal for close-fitting jeans or jackets where comfort and structure are equally required.
In its new condition, the unwashed denim presents itself as robust and shape-retaining, but less rigid than comparable 100% cotton qualities. The integrated elasticity ensures pleasant freedom of movement from the very first wear. With increased wear, the material develops additional suppleness and adapts dynamically, while the silhouette remains clearly defined.
Visually, the fabric shows a balanced, classic denim structure with authentic depth. Depending on the wear, differentiated washes emerge, which stand out clearly through the stable basic structure.
The fabric is made by Kuroki in Okayama - one of the most renowned regions for high-quality selvage denim in Japan. On traditional shuttle looms, fabrics are produced there that combine artisanal authenticity with modern functionality.
Despite its higher weight, the 14.3 oz denim can be easily processed with a sturdy household sewing machine. A jeans needle in strength 90-100 is recommended; when working with multi-layered flat seams, you should work at a reduced speed.
The last photo shows exemplarily the development of the fabric over a longer wearing time - a characteristic patina that combines substance and flexibility in a balanced way.

Please do not wash the denim before processing. As unwashed "raw selvage," the fabric only develops its characteristic structure and fit through wear.
Wash the finished garment only after complete assembly. The respective length and width shrinkage values should therefore be taken into account during pattern making and sizing planning.
