S-015 - 13 oz - antique blue selvage denim
white selvage line - from Nihonmenpu, Japan
1 × 50 cm = 50 cm Gesamtlänge
This natural indigo linen selvage denim from Japan weighs 13 oz and is made by Nihon Menpu in Ibara. With a 15% linen content, the fabric combines the classic indigo denim look with a unique texture and features striking vertical lines—a so-called "waterfall" structure that gives the fabric dynamism and character.
In its new condition, the denim feels firm and stiff, as is typical for unwashed raw selvage fabrics. The underside of the material has a natural beige tone, creating a subtle, warm contrast to the top side. With continued wear, the fabric develops a pleasant softness while retaining its distinctive vertical line structure.
The pronounced "waterfall" effects become particularly noticeable with wear and subsequent washing, giving the fabric an individual, vibrant patina. Despite its bold structure, the denim remains easy to work with and is suitable for jeans, jackets, or accessories designed to showcase texture and character.
Thanks to its 13 oz weight, the fabric can be sewn on a standard household sewing machine. A size 90 jeans needle is recommended; when sewing multi-layered flat-felled seams, the sewing speed should be reduced to achieve precise seams.
The final photo illustrates how the fabric develops over extended wear—the striking waterfall structure, combined with the natural beige tone of the underside, develops a vibrant, distinctive patina.

Please do not wash the denim before processing. As unwashed "raw selvage," the fabric only develops its characteristic structure and fit through wear.
Wash the finished garment only after complete assembly. The respective length and width shrinkage values should therefore be taken into account during pattern making and sizing planning.
