S-039 - 15 oz - black selvage denim
white/black selvage line - from Nihonmenpu, Japan
1 × 50 cm = 50 cm Gesamtlänge
This 15 oz selvage denim from Japan is made by Nihon Menpu in Ibara. The fabric features a black warp thread and an anthracite weft thread, which creates a subtle depth even in its raw state and produces high-contrast, vibrant fading effects with wear. The sulfur-black dyeing gives the denim a deep, intense tone, while the white and red woven edge adds a classic selvage detail.
In its new condition, the denim feels firm and substantial, with a uniform yet vibrant surface. With continued wear, the material develops a soft suppleness and reveals the distinctive, medium-contrast interplay between the warp and weft threads.
Thanks to its balanced structure, the fabric is ideal for jeans, jackets, overshirts, or accessories where depth, texture, and high-contrast fading potential are the main focus.
At 15 oz, the denim can be worked with well-adjusted domestic or industrial sewing machines. A size 100 jeans needle is recommended; when sewing multi-layered felled seams, the sewing speed should be reduced to achieve precise seams.
The final photo illustrates the natural development of the fabric over extended wear – the deep black color combined with the anthracite weft reveals vibrant, high-contrast fading and a unique, distinctive patina.

Please do not wash the denim before processing. As unwashed "raw selvage," the fabric only develops its characteristic structure and fit through wear.
Wash the finished garment only after complete assembly. The respective length and width shrinkage values should therefore be taken into account during pattern making and sizing planning.
