S-049 - 12 oz - diamond indigo selvedge twill
white/red selvage line - from Nihonmenpu, Japan
1 × 50 cm = 50 cm Gesamtlänge
This 12 oz diamond twill denim from Japan is made by Nihon Menpu in Ibara and impresses with its exceptionally high-contrast, distinctive weave. The pronounced diamond twill weave creates a strong, three-dimensional surface with a lively interplay of light and shadow. Dyed with natural indigo, the fabric has a special depth and an authentic, subtly nuanced color effect.
In its new condition, the denim appears bold, textured, and very striking. Through wear and especially washing, it develops significant shrinkage – sewists should definitely take this into account when planning. The higher shrinkage further enhances the already distinctive structure and creates an even more three-dimensional surface.
Thanks to its expressive character, the fabric is ideal for coats, jackets, or jeans, but can also be used as a decorative, deliberately placed panel in projects where texture and contrast are the focus.
At 12 oz weight, the denim is easy to work with, but due to the strong structure, careful guiding under the machine is required. A size 90–100 jeans needle is recommended; when sewing multiple layers, work slowly and precisely to achieve clean results.
The last photo shows an example of the development after wear and washing – the natural indigo dye and the pronounced diamond structure develop an intense, characterful patina that impressively underscores the artisanal quality of this special denim.

Please do not wash the denim before processing. As unwashed "raw selvage," the fabric only develops its characteristic structure and fit through wear.
Wash the finished garment only after complete assembly. The respective length and width shrinkage values should therefore be taken into account during pattern making and sizing planning.
