This 13 oz selvage denim from Japan is made by Nihon Menpu in Ibara and features a natural indigo shade with 13% linen. The combination of cotton and linen gives the fabric a vibrant texture, while the characteristic "noppies"—small tufts of white yarn on the surface—give the weave additional character and a rustic, artisanal look.

In its new condition, the denim feels firm and slightly stiff, as is typical for unwashed raw selvage fabrics. With continued wear, the material develops a pleasant softness while retaining the distinctive noppy structure and the subtle color variation of the natural indigo.

The white woven edge adds a classic accent that blends harmoniously into a variety of designs. Despite the striking surface texture, the fabric remains easy to work with and is ideal for jeans, jackets, overshirts, or accessories that are meant to showcase character, depth, and an artisanal touch.

Thanks to its 13 oz weight, the denim can be sewn on a standard household sewing machine. A size 90 jeans needle is recommended; when sewing multi-layered flat-felled seams, the sewing speed should be reduced to achieve precise seams.
