S-049 - 12 oz - diamond indigo selvedge twill
white/red selvedge line - from Nihonmenpu, Japan
1 × 50 cm = 50 cm Gesamtlänge
This 12 oz diamond twill denim from Japan is manufactured by Nihon Menpu in Ibara and impresses with its exceptionally high-contrast, striking weave. The pronounced diamond twill weave creates a strong, textured surface with a vibrant interplay of light and shadow. Dyed with natural indigo, the fabric possesses a special depth and an authentic, subtly nuanced color effect.
When new, denim appears bold, textured, and very striking. Through wear and especially washing, significant shrinkage occurs – seamstresses should definitely take this into account during the planning phase. The increased shrinkage further enhances the already distinctive texture and creates an even more three-dimensional surface.
Thanks to its expressive character, the fabric is ideal for coats, jackets or jeans, but can also be used as a decorative, deliberately used element in projects where structure and contrast are the focus.
Weighing 12 oz, this denim is easy to work with, but its strong structure requires careful handling under the sewing machine. A size 90-100 jeans needle is recommended; for multi-layer seams, work slowly and precisely to achieve clean results.
The last photo shows an example of the development after wearing and washing – the natural indigo dyeing and the pronounced diamond structure develop an intense, characterful patina that impressively underlines the craftsmanship of this special denim.

Please do not wash the denim before processing. As an unwashed "raw selvage" fabric, it only develops its characteristic structure and fit through wear.
Wash the finished garment only after it is completely sewn. The respective shrinkage values for length and width should therefore be taken into account during pattern construction and size planning.
