Sustainable denim: Sewing with character, protecting the environment
Historically, the production of traditional denim has often been resource-intensive. However, the world of premium denim is changing. Our sustainable Eco Denim proves that you don't have to compromise on quality or authentic looks to enjoy environmentally friendly materials. From GOTS-certified organic cotton and recycled fibers to water-saving dyeing methods – here you will find fabrics that are a true highlight, not just against your skin, but for your conscience as well.
Stretch denim consists mostly of cotton into which a small percentage of elastane (usually between 1 and 3%) is woven. A trace of polyester is often added so that the fabric returns to its original shape after being stretched and does not lose its shape.

That depends on the weight of the fabric. For medium-weight stretch denim (approx. 10–12 oz), it is best to use a regular jeans needle (size 90). For very thin, highly elastic denim, a special super-stretch needle (with a medium ball point) can help, as it pushes the elastane threads gently to the side rather than piercing and damaging them.

Be sure to use a high-quality polyester thread for the construction seams (like the ones you can find in our shop). Unlike pure cotton, polyester is minimally elastic and tear-resistant, so the seams will not burst immediately when the fabric stretches while being worn. For the visible decorative seams, we recommend our strong jeans topstitching thread.

The most important rule is: never pull on the fabric while sewing! Let your sewing machine's feed dog do the work. If your machine has an adjustable presser foot pressure, reduce it slightly. A walking foot works wonders, as it feeds the top and bottom layers of fabric perfectly evenly.

Absolutely. The hot water and subsequent heat during pre-ironing activate the elastane and anticipate the initial shrinkage. If you don't do this, your custom-made stretch jeans could completely change their elasticity and shape after the first wash.
